Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-H3 is a new small and affordable super-zoom model with 8 Megapixels and a 10x optically-stabilised zoom. The H3’s 2.5in screen is relatively coarse at 115k pixels, but there’s also 3200 ISO sensitivity, HDTV output with an optional component cable, and the D-Range Optimiser function first seen on the Alpha A100 DSLR to automatically optimise images prior to JPEG compression. Be sure to compare againstPanasonic’s Lumix FZ8 though.

Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-T200 features 8 Megapixel resolution, a 5x optical zoom and a large 3.5in 16:9 widescreen monitor which occupies the entire rear surface. That’s, right, there’s no controls on the back of the T200, but luckily the monitor’s a touch-screen model. The T200 also features 3200 ISO sensitivity, HDTV output with an optional component cable and a new face detection capability which can actually recognise smiles. The camera’s available in silver, black or red.

Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-T70 is a more affordable version of the T200, featuring the same 8 Megapixel resolution, but a shorter 3x optical zoom and a slightly smaller 3in widescreen monitor. This display still occupies the entire rear surface though and like the T200 is touch-sensitive. The T70 also features 3200 ISO, HDTV output with an optional component cable and a new face detection capability which can recognise smiles. The camera’s available in silver, black, white or pink.

Sony’s Cyber-shot G1 takes picture storing and sharing to a new level with a whopping 2 Gigabytes of built-in memory, a large high resolution 3.5in screen with an impressive 921K pixels, and Wifi for wireless connectivity. After that, the traditional camera specs seem a little pedestrian: 6 Megapixels with a 3X zoom, albeit with optical stabilisation. It also offers sensitivity from 80-1000 ISO, focuses as close as 1cm and records videos in the MPEG-4 format.
